About the Position
The Career Advisor provides adult and/or youth case management activities related to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) program in a variety of fast-paced, high-volume, performance-based environments throughout Maricopa County. This position utilizes assessments, career coaching, job search assistance, resource referrals, and services to help customers overcome barriers to employment, education, and training.

We Require
- One year of experience in employment, training programs, case management, career development activities, reentry services or equivalent social service programs
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

- Two (2) or more years of professional level experience in Career Services, Education or Social Services.
Job Contributions
- Assists participants in developing career and education action plans.
- Meets with customers one-on-one or in a group setting to review applications and determine if customer meets WIOA eligibility requirements.
- Assists participants with resume development and job search activities.
- Assesses participants' barriers to employment and arranges available area resources and supportive services as needed including transportation, education, and emergency assistance.
- Advises participants regarding secondary education, post-secondary training and permanent employment opportunities.
- Conducts and interprets academic and work readiness evaluations and assessments.
- Provides intensive, sustained one-on-one support and guidance to a case load of up to 120 during period of program participation.
- Provides labor market information on in-demand occupations.
- Conducts program orientations, informational seminars and one-on-one sessions with customers.
- Conducts outreach in various Maricopa County areas to create awareness of the program services.
- Assists participants with resume development and job search activities.
- Create, update, and maintain accurate participant case notes and files.
- Provides and tracks referrals to program partners and community-based service providers.
- Assists with job fairs, resource fairs and other program events.
Working Conditions
Work is routinely performed in an office environment, which may require long periods of sitting, reading, and typing. Requires travel to program sites throughout Maricopa County. The position requires travel to and from various county, client, and contractor locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business.
