Join Our Board: Be a Catalyst for Holistic Health Advancement
The Foundation for PIHMA Research & Education is actively seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, our mission is to fund and support research, education, and community outreach in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Homeopathy—fostering greater public awareness and access to these time-honored healing modalities.
About the Foundation
Since our incorporation in 2001, the Foundation has played a pivotal role in advancing integrative medicine through:
- Research in acupuncture and homeopathy, including oversight via our Institutional Research Board (IRB).
- The development of the National Library of Traditional Medicine—a growing resource that preserves the legacy of holistic health education.
- Scholarships, public education, and nonprofit clinical care to serve underserved populations.
- Strategic partnerships with PIHMA and the American Medical College of Homeopathy.
Board Member Responsibilities
Board Members help shape the vision, integrity, and impact of the Foundation. Core responsibilities include:
- Strategic Guidance: Provide insight and leadership to support the Foundation’s mission and growth.
- Fundraising & Outreach: Assist in developing partnerships, securing donations, and planning fundraising events (e.g., Celebrity Chef Fundraiser, Author’s Series).
- Marketing & Communications: Help amplify our message through community engagement, social media, and advocacy.
- Financial Oversight: Contribute to fiscal health through responsible governance and budget review.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking individuals with backgrounds in:
- Fundraising and Development
- Marketing and Communications
- Finance, Accounting, or Nonprofit Management
Board members should have a passion for integrative medicine and a desire to support innovation in health education and research.

We are dedicated to building a Center of Excellence for research, nonprofit clinics, and public access to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Homeopathy. Your involvement will help us expand access to compassionate, evidence-informed, holistic care.
Qualifications
To help guide and grow the Foundation’s mission, ideal board candidates will possess one or more of the following:
Professional Experience,
- Experience in fundraising, development, grant writing, or donor relations
- Background in marketing, communications, public relations, or social media strategy.
- Expertise in finance, accounting, budgeting, or nonprofit governance
- Knowledge or interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, or Integrative Health
- Experience serving on nonprofit boards or advisory committees (preferred but not required).
- Personal Attributes: Passionate about advancing holistic, integrative medicine and making it accessible to all.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to commit time and energy to board meetings, events, and committee work
- Willingness to leverage personal and professional networks to support the Foundation
- Strategic thinker with a heart for service and community impact.
- Commitment.
- Willing to serve a minimum term of 2 years
- Attend quarterly board meetings via Zoom with entire board and 1 meeting once a month to brainstorm individually for 1 hour a month
- Support fundraising efforts and contribute annually at a personally meaningful level
