The Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF) is the state’s premier education foundation. AEF’s mission is to celebrate excellence and cultivate opportunity in PreK-12th grade Arizona public education. About the Position:
The Donor & Corporate Relations Internship is a perfect position for someone who is enthusiastic about working in nonprofit development to support schools and educators; detail-oriented, organized, and willing to work as part of team. This is an entry-level part-time internship and perfect for an individual interested in growing their skill-set with AEF. This position will specifically:
- Work directly with AEF’s Senior Director of Development & Advancement and Senior Director of Strategy & Engagement to implement the Development Plan and Strategic Plan for AEF.
- Assist with event coordination related to the Arizona Teacher of the Year Awards, the Arizona State Spelling Bee, board meetings, and smaller engagement events as needed. This may include activities like ordering supplies; making name badges; vetting different vendors; helping other team members with loading-in/loading-out supplies and props; etc.
- Supporting AEF’s volunteer corps, the Shine Squad, on various projects across school campuses, in office, and in the community. This may include coordinating day-of logistics with various stakeholders, vetting potential volunteers, and assisting with community awareness events.
- Assist with donor management such as creating and mailing thank you notes and donor acknowledgements or requesting donated items and/or sponsorships for events.
- Assist with donor records, recognition, and tracking through AEF’s CRM.
- Assist with digital communications including social media, newsletters, and other digital campaigns
- Help staff with updating member databases periodically on occasion.
- Handle communications with schools, districts, and other partners related to registration and program enrollment.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Learn about marketing, specifically social media, print materials, and public relations
- Learn how a nonprofit board of directors operates
- Attend community partner meetings to learn about networking
Work Environment:
This is a part-time internship with a maximum 20-hour per week. This position will work in-person in-office 4-5 hours two to three days per week. The work week is typically Monday-Friday; however, an occasional Saturday is required as it is related to special fundraising events (these dates are already confirmed and can be provided up front).
Pay: $13.75/hour
Qualifications
Required Skills:
The Donor & Corporate Relations Intern must have the following knowledge/skills:
- A love of public schools and an appreciation of the educators, faculty, and staff who serve public education.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and take direction from senior staff.
- Adept at using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to use Canva is a plus!
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication.
- Able to lift 25 lbs.
- Have reliable transportation; while the position is based in Phoenix, occasional travel to schools across Maricopa County may be required. Mileage is reimbursed.
Bonus Skills:
While not required, bonus skills would include:
- Some knowledge of donor management software
- Some experience working with video, including editing
- Some experience hosting Zoom and/or Teams meetings or a willingness to learn
