Position Description

This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and to the Head of Staff (Pastor). This role has the primary responsibility of assisting the Director of Operations with the financial accounting of the Church. Duties will include assistance in the areas of finance and administration. The role will require contact with the Church staff, leadership, and members of the congregation.

Key Responsibilities

Weekly

Prepare visitor letters for the first time givers.

Manage church calendar.

Ensure all auto-pay payables are executing properly.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Review invoices and schedule payments.

Process reimbursements and disbursement requests.

Monthly

Reconcile bank statements and brokerage statements with QuickBooks online for Non-Profits.

Maintain and update church mailing list.

General

Prepare bulk mailings when necessary.

Provide occasional office assistance upon request.

Maintain church calendar.

Provide back-up financial support to Director of Operations

Assist Director of Operations with special events.

Other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Job Skills and Requirements

Candidate must have the following:

Demonstrated thorough grasp of Fund Accounting basics within the framework of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online for Non-Profits are a must.  Familiarity with Shelby and Tithe.ly Church Management Relationship Systems is highly desirable

Attention to detail and follow-through on assignments and meeting deadlines

Commitment to good interpersonal relationships, teamwork and support of church ministries while maintaining a positive work attitude.

Commitment to confidentiality regarding all records, both church staff and the members

How to apply

Evaluation and Compensation

The Operations Assistance reports directly to the Director of Operations and the Head of Staff and will receive an annual performance evaluation. After initial hiring, the successful candidate will receive a 90-day review of performance and progress. Compensation is reviewed annually by the church Session. The position is planned for three days per week totaling 15 hours weekly. The projected starting salary is $20.00 per hour. Salary may be adjusted based on the successful candidates’ experience and qualifications. Weekly hours will be submitted electronically and approved by the Director of Operations and/or Head of Staff. Position will be paid twice a month.

 As a part-time employee of Church of the Master, the successful candidate will qualify for a Total Compensation package including: authorized holiday pay based on scheduled hours on 12 observed holidays; vacation and sick hours accrued per hours worked; and employee paid Dental, Vision, and 403(b) benefit options, offered through the Board of Pensions and deducted through twice monthly payroll.   Weekly requirements may dictate variations in hours which will be adjusted to maintain the planned weekly rates.
