Job Title: Director of Individual Giving

Reports To: Senior Director of Philanthropy

Classification:  Full Time/Exempt

The Role: 

The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for growing major gifts revenue generated from individual donors and affinity groups by putting in place a qualifying process for donors. The Director of Individual Giving  will achieve major gift goals by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals for gifts of $10.000 and above. The Director of Individual Giving role will manage giving programs for the chapter, including but not limited to donor societies; appeals; and stewardship.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage individual strategies for a portfolio of 250+ donors.
  • Conduct a minimum of 12 face-to-face donor meetings each month.
  • Implement strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, focusing on major gifts of $10,000 and above.
  • Maintain and enhance the donor cultivation and stewardship process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry in Salesforce to support donor engagement and team responses.
  • Achieve major gift fundraising goals by identifying, qualifying, and soliciting donors.
  • Support the Sr. Director of Philanthropy in advancing the major gifts program.

Specific Duties:

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward potential major gift donors.
  • Solicit and secure major gift commitments from existing donors.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals to potential donors.
  • Track and analyze major gift fundraising metrics in the database.
  • Utilize fundraising and marketing tools to enhance major giving efforts.
  • Create detailed reports on the progress of the major gift program.
  • Collaborate with board members and staff on fundraising initiatives.
  • Engage with donors through various giving vehicles, including DAFs, legacy, and endowment gifts.
  • Align efforts with the development team to set and achieve fundraising goals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with donors, keeping them informed about the impact of their contributions and organizational activities.
  • Support and attend donor stewardship and fundraising events.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to support campaigns and donor communications.
  • Grow the Just One-Wish Program, which promotes the adoption of wish portions for children waiting for their wishes.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Support the Sr. Director of Philanthropy with Wishmakers Council meetings and other auxiliary groups.
  • Adhere to Make-A-Wish America performance standards and internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work with Volunteer Services to engage volunteers as potential donors.
  • Identify opportunities to increase donor giving, including monthly and annual contributions, and reengage lapsed donors.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in major gift fundraising or related development roles (10 years plus & CFRE preferred).
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

This position is FLSA Exempt, Salaried and not subject to overtime compensation.
