Ryan House is Arizona's only nonprofit that provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care in a home-like setting for Arizona children facing life-threatening conditions. Established in 2004 with the House opening in March of 2010, the organization has quickly become a leader in pediatric palliative care, which addresses not only physical pain but also the emotional, spiritual and social needs of the child and family. Position Profile

The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and serves as a key member of the development team. Works closely with the Executive Director, Development Committee, Community Relations and Volunteer Coordinator, other staff, and Board, to assist in the design and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program to fulfill the donor experience from acquisition to stewardship while meeting budgetary targets. Will provide expert direction for the adoption of benchmark best practices and the development of creative strategies that continue to expand Ryan House’s donor base. Will embody the highest standards of professionalism in developing fundraising systems and in executing high-touch frontline fundraising. Assists in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts from new, existing and lapsed donors. The position works within a team environment toward collective goals while ensuring that giving increases as the result of a well-organized and thoughtfully designed program.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of Ryan House’s fundraising strategy.
  • Ensures successful donor relations with current and prospective donors.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of successful planned and major gifts 
    programs
  • Monitors Fund Development performance and facilitates continuous improvement.
  • Maintains and enhances professional skills.
  • Adheres to high standards of personal and professional conduct.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, business, business communication or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a fundraising role, including major and individual gifts.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.
  • Ability to give and follow written as well as oral instruction.
  • Ability to do complex planning and organizing and deal with confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Excellent computer skills. Familiarity with computer and basic software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
     
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a healthcare organization is highly desired.
  • CFRE preferred.
