Junior Videographer/Editor 

 

The ASU Outreach Hub is dedicated to connecting more constituents in impactful ways using data-derived insights, integrated and collaborative approaches and advanced outreach techniques in support of the ASU Public Enterprise.    

 

The Junior Videographer/Editor position in the ASU Outreach Hub works collaboratively with colleagues and partners on video projects that support marketing, outreach and engagement goals. Under the supervision of the Video Producer, the Junior Videographer/Editor will film and edit video content, shoot photography, and create motion graphics. This role will work independently and as part of a team, leveraging technical skills and creativity to bring stories to life visually for a variety of projects. This position reports to and supports the Video Producer in a flexible, imaginative, dynamic, problem-solving capacity.

 

 

What you'll do:

  • Assist with setting up and operating video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for shoots.

  • Capture high-quality video footage and create motion graphics/animation for multiple platforms according to project requirements and creative direction.

  • Ensure proper framing, composition, and camera settings for each shot.

  • Use A.I. to brainstorm innovative concepts and ideas that align with project goals.

  • Assist in creating detailed storyboards with AI tools to automate layout suggestions and visual flow.

  • Assist with production planning, logistics and execution.

  • Assist in editing video footage using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve.

  • Help with color correction, sound editing, and incorporating graphics or text as needed.

  • Support the creation of final video files and ensure they meet quality standards for distribution.

  • Take photos of new employees, schedule retake photos, and manage images on SharePoint.

  • Provide project management support for video projects as it pertains to meeting project deadlines, tracking various project progress, attending meetings, and working with project manager(s) as needed.

  • Collaborate with Digital Content Specialist to support the creation of social media videos, photos or other content needs.

  • Develop video ideas, concepts, and campaigns under the direction of the Video Producer, guided by a creative brief; translate partner needs, end-user needs, and technical requirements into videos that are visually interesting and engaging.

  • Manage projects in progress, resolve technical issues, and proof materials to ensure quality, accuracy and deadlines are met.

  • Champion the ASU brand and work creatively, independently, and collaboratively as part of a team to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and viewer-experience.

  • Support multiple projects simultaneously and track projects in Wrike project management system.

  • Use digital asset management system to organize video and digital assets.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

What you'll need:

  • Must be a self-starter, be proactive, and take initiative

  • Exhibit high attention to detail, high degree of openness to new approaches and ideas, and creative and critical thinking skills

  • Proficient with Adobe CS: Premier, Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom, Media Encoder; project management systems, and MS Office Suite

  • Strong understanding of video composition and pacing; ability to work creatively and follow detailed instructions when required

  • Strong prioritization, organizational, and time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to interpret input, feedback, and markups and prepare files for production with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision

  • Ability to interview, video and/or record individuals in conjunction with project work

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; customer service focused

  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible

  • Collaborative style combined with the ability and desire to work independently as well as in a team-based environment

 

 

Relevant qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Film, Broadcast Journalism or related field from an accredited university or educational institution

  • One (1) year of video experience in a hands-on environment, shooting and editing

  • Evidence of a video portfolio showcasing video editing and production capabilities

 

 

Preferred education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Broadcast Journalism or related field from an accredited university or educational institution

  • Two (2) years of video experience in a hands-on environment, shooting and editing

  • Demonstrated experience in video editing, production and creation

 

 

Preferred skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of Wrike project management systems
