ABOUT DC RANCH
DC Ranch is a 4,400-acre community located adjacent to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in north Scottsdale, Arizona. The community is composed of 25 diverse neighborhoods within four distinct villages that interact with shared open spaces to create a sense of living with the land. The first home was completed in 1997, and there are currently 2,800 homes and approximately 7,000 residents on the Ranch.
DC Ranch is governed by three entities: DC Ranch Community Council, Ranch Association, and the Covenant Commission. All three entities work toward the same goal: to serve residents and create a community that is beautiful, functions well, and creates a deep sense of belonging.
OVERVIEW
The Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role within the Community Council team and works closely with the Director of Finance & Administration to ensure the integrity of all accounting functions. This position oversees general ledger activities and supervises the accounting team in alignment with the DC Ranch values of professionalism, teamwork, innovation, passion, and fun. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records and reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and support the accounting team (currently two FTEs), including performance management, goal setting, and professional development, while maintaining strong employee relationships
- Oversee daily accounting operations: accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
- Prepare and post monthly and year-end journal entries; perform month- and year-end closings
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate supporting schedules
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for all the three DC Ranch entities, ensuring proper accounting for each organization’s respective funds and cost centers
- Monitor and manage bank balances; perform necessary fund transfers
- Serve as administrative liaison for banking relationships
- Support the Director of Financial Operations in the annual audit and budgeting processes
- Manage corporate credit card accounts and user access for accounting software
- Manage all insurance policies for the community, including oversight of policy renewals, and act as the main point of contact for the insurance broker
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and assist with special projects
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal controls and process improvements
- Provide cross-training and serve as backup support for the accounting team
- Participate in signature community events as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited institution
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in community management, HOA, or a municipal setting
- Experience with fund accounting, including managing multiple funds and cost centers, is highly beneficial in this role
- Proficiency with computerized accounting systems and standard financial software
