 Director of People and Culture

 1.       About New Pathways for Youth

At New Pathways for Youth, we’re passionate about transforming the lives of youth by providing the support, stability, and skills they need to flourish in the community and in their families. Over the past 35 years, we’ve transformed the lives of over 8,000 youth -- youth who experience poverty and four times the adversity of others their age -- to break through the barriers they face and change the trajectory of their life.

 We are also passionate about the possibilities for our staff.  We are looking for a dedicated individual that is mission focused, committed to self-care, open to personal and professional skill development, leads an integrated and balanced life that contributes toward our collective impact, approaches others by seeing the whole person and the contributions each person brings and honors a culture of accountability which instills trust so we can transform the lives of even more youth in our community.   We operate in an open work environment that fosters collaboration and supports engagement among the staff.  We're looking for a dedicated individual to join our growing team as we work to transform the lives of even more youth in our community.

 This position is located in Phoenix, AZ.

2.  Job Responsibilities and Duties

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Point person collaborating with our HR Service provider
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance on workforce planning, talent management, and organizational development.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Oversee recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview procedures.
  • Develop and implement onboarding programs to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the organization.

Employee Relations and Support:

  • Act as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports employee engagement and retention.

Performance Management:

  • Manage performance appraisal systems to foster continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers in addressing performance issues and facilitating employee development.

Organizational Culture and Development:

  • Lead initiatives to enhance organizational culture and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop training programs and workshops to build staff competencies and support career development.

Compliance and Policies:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and nonprofit sector standards.
  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and best practices.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI):

  • Champion DEI initiatives and work to create a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address and improve DEI metrics within the organization.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Manage the administration of employee benefits and support staff with benefits-related inquiries.

Organizational Communication:

  • Foster effective communication channels within the organization to enhance transparency and collaboration.

 

3.  Employee Qualities/Traits

  • Comfortable speaking in large groups
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (obtained or able to obtain upon hire)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or a related field.  SHRM-SCP, SPHR preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of HR and leadership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of employment law, regulations and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

 Additional details 

Salary is commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $75,000 – $85,000 annually. Benefits include health, dental, vision coverage and a generous time off package. Generally, the hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm but will require some weekends and evenings during events needing support.
