Summary:

Are you looking to collaborate with diverse communities to build artful learning opportunities? Do you have a passion for the visual and performing arts? Do you have experience designing informal learning experiences for specific audiences? If so, then we are looking for you! Join the Learning & Innovation department at Scottsdale Arts as the Community Engagement Manager. In this position, you’ll work with teams across the organization to design community-focused, mission-based programming that engages and inspires diverse audiences through the arts. You’ll put your creative spin on programs such as Visions, collaborate with organizations to design programs for youth, and help visitors engage with events both on and off our campus. Most importantly, you’ll work with a functional team that values collaboration, creativity, and each member’s unique contribution. Important Details to Know:

  • Compensation: $55,000 – 65,000 DOE
  • Shift/Hours: Weekdays with some evening and weekend work required
  • Job Type: Exempt

Qualifications

Here is what you will get to do:

  • Design, plan, and implement arts programs, workshops, exhibitions, events, and/or festivals for diverse audiences, often in collaboration with community partners and across the organization.
  • Lead existing programs including our Visions teen program, and research and recognize opportunities to meet community needs through new initiatives. 
  • Cultivate partnerships and create collaborative experiences with, but not limited to, schools, school districts, out-of-school groups, arts organizations, community groups, teaching artists, and practicing artists.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education: Master’s degree in a related field including, but not limited to, art, education, or museum studies. It may be substituted for a bachelor's degree plus more than eight years’ experience.

Experience: A minimum of five years of related experience, including teaching in a classroom setting, education programming, or any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to design and implement programs that engage and educate diverse audiences
  • Excellent interpretive, writing, public speaking, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, research, problem-solving, creativity, and teaching skills
  • Knowledge of museum education, performing arts, and/or community engagement concepts, strategies, ethics, and standards, in addition to contemporary educational methods for informal learning environments
  • Experience training and managing people, including volunteers
  • Cultural competence and ability to facilitate open dialogue
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with staff, visitors, volunteers, donors, professional colleagues, and diverse members of the community, including schools, community organizations, and the public
  • Ability to work in shared / open space office environment
    • Digital proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite, Google apps, databases (Tessitura and Event Pro), and project management systems (Asana).
