ABOUT DC RANCH:

DC Ranch is a 4,400-acre community located adjacent to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in north Scottsdale, Arizona. The community is composed of 25 diverse neighborhoods within four distinct villages that interact with shared open spaces to create a sense of living with the land. The first home was completed in 1997, and there are currently 2,800 homes and approximately 7,000 residents on the Ranch.

DC Ranch is governed by three entities: DC Ranch Community Council, Ranch Association, and the Covenant Commission. All three entities work toward the same goal: to serve residents and create a community that is beautiful, functions well, and creates a deep sense of belonging.

OVERVIEW:

The IT Manager is an integral part of the DC Ranch team, working with all three governing organizations and staff at all levels in a manner consistent with our culture and values of teamwork, professionalism, innovation, passion and fun.  Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Information Technology (IT) Manager will oversee IT needs for the three organizations and manage the technology budget. The IT Manager is responsible for all technology, communication networks and systems, as well as end user support and vendor coordination at all DC Ranch locations.  The IT Manager will serve as the sole person responsible for IT at DC Ranch.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Oversee Information Technology daily operations ensuring a high quality of service to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide desktop support for all DC Ranch applications.
  • Analyze complex organizational needs, assess overall IT structure, and facilitate environment of continual improvement.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software and system issues and provide user support.
  • Function as account administrator, managing licenses and user access to systems and equipment.
  • Maintain hardware asset inventory and replacement schedule, including security cameras and equipment.
  • Prepare annual budget for technology needs and review expenditures monthly to ensure budget expectations are met.

Network/Infrastructure

  • Assess overall IT infrastructure, processes, and performance to make recommendations for improvements.
  • Install, optimize, maintain, and replace networking and infrastructure equipment, ensuring a high availability work environment.

IT Security

  • Responsible for the security of all IT systems, such as firewalls, data protection controls, patching, encryption, vulnerability scanning, and antivirus suites.
  • Responsible for the security of electronic messaging systems, such as email filtering solutions, anti-phishing tools, and email encryption.
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders to provide relevant IT security training to staff.

IT Policy and Internal Controls

  • Document, implement and monitor IT best practices, policies, and controls; to include, data security, back-ups, system testing, risk assessments, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Safeguard and protect system assets by solving actual and potential security threats. Evaluate current IT security and protections (anti-virus, firewalls, vulnerability testing etc.) and recommend any necessary improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate records, data, video footage, ensuring compliance with current retention policies.
  • Educate staff on approved technology policies and procedures; develop training materials if needed.

Other

  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships; incorporate state pricing when available.
  • Special projects in accordance with organization goals.  Examples include navigating new technology in the fitness center and assisting with upgrades in security technology at the community guard houses.
  • Work with third party IT firm as needed.

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES NEEDED:

  • Be a utility player—this position will interact with a variety of staff from the Community Council, Ranch Association and Covenant Commission teams.
  • Be able to work independently, being the sole IT person in the organization.

  • This position is on site, 40+ hours per week. While hours are generally M-F 8 to 5, may need to be available after hours for special projects, emergencies, etc.
  • IT Manager must be able to walk, stand, reach, and lift 20 -40 pounds occasionally

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology operations, support, and customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field or equivalent education or experience.
  • Extensive working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems and phone systems.
